Engine Fire On The Ground During Startup

Continue to crank the ignition to suck flames into the engine. If the engine starts, power to 1700 RPM for 3 minutes, then perform SHUTDOWN procedures

Mixture—OFF

Fuel Selector—OFF

Fuel Pump—OFF

Cabin Heat—OFF

Throttle—MAX POWER (to burn up any remaining fuel in the engine)

Master Switch—OFF

After the engine stops, turn off the ignition switch, evacuate the aircraft, and if necessary extinguish the flames.

Fire in a fuel-injected engine may result from excess fuel pooling in the exhaust system rather than in the induction system (as in carbureted engines). In this case the mixture should be pulled to IDLE CUTOFF and the fuel selector valve should be placed in the OFF position. Evacuate the plane immediately.
