Class B Airports
Radio Communcations in Class B airspace are essentially the same as in Class C. The major difference is that before entering Class B airspace, the pilot must receive a specific clearance from approach control, such as the following:
PILOT: “Socal Approach, Diamondstar 314AF over Mission Bay VOR at 3000 feet, request Southeast transition to Brown Field.”
APPROACH: “Diamondstar 314AF (three one four alpha foxtrot), cleared into the San Diego Class B Airspace, turn left heading 110° (one one zero degrees), climb and maintain 3500.”
PILOT: “Diamondstar 314AF (three one four alpha foxtrot) cleared into the Class B, Left 110° (one one zero degrees), climb and maintain 3500.”
