California Marine Layer
—In summer, if the stratus layer doesn't burn off by around 11 AM it will probably stay around all day; during winter it will remain if it doesn't burn off by around 12 PM.
—If the stratus cloud layer is 3000 feet thick, slight drizzle is likely; If it is 4000 feet thick light rain is likely.
—A winds aloft forecast shows you where a temperature inversion is located (and the top of the stratus layer in the LA basin)
—Corona and Hemet usually stay VFR when the marine layer moves in (Torrance also tends to remain VFR)
